Boehm Farm
United States
Приєднався 14 тра 2016
We are a family owned farm in Southwest Ohio. Our farm incorporates a wide variety of agriculture. We do a yearly rotation of corn and soybeans. We also plant sweet corn and a variety of vegetables. In addition we house many flowers and vegetables in our greenhouse for summer time purchase. If that wasn't enough, our time is also spent caring for laying hens, raising meat chickens, and beef cows. This channel is set up to give an insight into how a small family owned farm works.
Gas, Rocks, Plastic: Everything to do on a Spring Day
Lets get to some planting videos! Unfortunately, I went to bed at the end of the video and planted the next day.

Hauling Home the New Silage Chopper

The cost of shipping would have close to the same as what we paid for the chopper. Good thing Brennan and I found this "sprayer" trailer last winter. Now I can get into all sorts of adventures hauling combines and such!
Making Cover Crop Bluegrass Hay

I hate making hay during planting season, but here goes nothing. At least this cover crop makes a few dollars instead of wasting it on rye.

The first time out with a new to me tractor finding all the hidden secrets. I mean, it's 40 years old, little things will go wrong, especially electronicals.

I figured the front axle provided enough weight to keep the front down. Guess I was wrong!

A little bath to get the grease off and this old mower is show room quality!
Hauling Fertilizer on a Combine Trailer

The shape of the trailer isn't conducive to universal hauling needs, but it sure can hold the weight!
Ford TW25 Oil and Filter Change
Переглядів 7 тис.Місяць тому
Lube is the name of the game. It doesn't last forever, so we have to change it out. Friction and heat are the worst enemy. Trannies and gear boxes don't get as hot as engines, so we can skate by a while longer before replacing that oil. One odd note, the front hubs aren't vented, which is hard because they are turning, so they build up pressure, which eventually will cause oil seepage.
Oops!! I Plowed the Camera!

Spring tillage was going pretty well, until the fuel tank fell off and I lost the camera. Now, it won't stop raining. I'd rather lose the camera again than deal with never ending rain.
Scrapping an Old Gleaner Combine

I had my fun using parts off the old F2. I sold a few parts, and now I'm tired of looking at it. If you are in my area, I highly recommend going to River Metals for best payout.

February Chisel Plowing in Ohio!!
Переглядів 13 тис.3 місяці тому
I have done many tasks in February, such as spread manure, tree trimming, corn harvest, but never any tillage. Last year, February was dryish, and 2024 is trying to repeat that. Now it is March while I'm posting this, and its back to standard Ohio excessive wetness. The two inch spikes do a fine job; I do like three inchers for a little more soil action. Four inchers are just too much for these...
Last Drive of the Case 730
Переглядів 11 тис.4 місяці тому
I managed to pick one of the coldest days of the year to do this. It wasn't exactly planned, I just wanted to see if it would start. Now here we are, taking a cold drive to deliver the Case to it's new owner down the road. The tractor is less than a mile away, but now it enjoys a different barn while my bank account receives some padding. With any luck, I'll still get to see it sometimes.
Frozen Tundra Plowing!! Big Ford and Little IH Plow
Переглядів 21 тис.4 місяці тому
IH 700 plow I dug out of the weeds at home. Old, rusty and lichen covered, we made it plow. The safeties may not trip anymore, but they don't reset well either. I made test run in row crop ground and was turning over huge frozen chunks. The sod kept this pasture at the perfect consistency on top.

Good beginning of a rock garden 😅
what tractor were you disking with? I don't remember seeing that one before
The dog is living good life 😂
That's funny you said that about the shovel, my grandpa had a shovel like that too. Either myDad or Uncle has that shovel now. Grandpa has somebody else do the digging if he needs it done.
I tried laying some 7 month biodegradable plastic for the first time. What a nightmare... It wouldn't stay under the press wheels so we had to keep shoveling the edges. And randomly it would tear halfway through the row. I tried every adjustment I could think of to no avail. Ended up switching back to our regular plastic and finished the field with zero issues.
2 canines.
Rocks have excellent germination.
How’s things looking down your way for weather? So far things are looking good here in north central Indiana.
We finally died out, could use a shower and now there's rain chances often enough that I can't make hay now that planting is done.
@@boehmfarm4276 ok yeah we were hoping to do our hay tomorrow but it didn’t look like likely.
Good video.
Good stuff
Thumbs up for the little big Ford,
Nice video
I'm. Not kidding keep up on farming
That's a fine job on laying the plastic! Ground worked up nice Ready for the plants!!!
I was wondering if you ever pulled the AA tender behind the applicator. And answered my question about why you prefer not to. 👍🏻
Do you not lay drip tape with the plastic?
The notch is there to allow the stabilizer straps to be used on the older tractors. It is supposed to be applied to the left side with the notch on the top side
So the thing to first do is pull the thermostat and make sure the engine cooling system is adequate to even cool the engine. Shoot ya'll may need a fan shroud and a fan with more blades. Usually someone has removed the fan shroud making the fan sit out in open air.
These Amish are different than any Amish I have met. And they helped you to load with a skid steer. Awesome.
Setting those boards on the off ramp was very poorly done. But you made it without the board pole vaulting you to a new record.
Your one front tire is mounted on backwards.
Could you post the link to the hole puncher typer tool you had at the beginning?
Do you get it from a feed mill in a small town in Kentucky?
Spent many hours on one identical. Can be a bit hard to work on. Good machine though. Good luck

Some chain binders couldn't hurt!
You were about 2 miles from my farm. I could have gave you a hand if I had known you were coming. You bought that old girl from the Richard Hartman farm.
Jacob you havd definitely got your money worth with the big truck
But does it work?
Cat engine sounds great
Do you feed them this twice daily?
I was born in Oil City Pennsylvania and raised in Titusville Pennsylvania you were close to my neck of the woods. I’m in Ohio now nice country Pennsylvania is.
Great video and neat equipment. You needed a train horn inside those tunnels lol 😆
You can’t fix the other equipment so you get a new one 😂
That old chopper wasn't worth fixing and has no metal detector so this is a big upgrade
The start of the video you were driving through Zanesville in the road construction on Interstate 70, I deal with that mess every day and live between the Sonora/ Airport and Norwich Exits. Keep up the good videos !
The kernel processor and metal detector will be a great addition.
I was not aware Amish used equipment with motors.
Depends on the colony quite a few amish in Pennsylvania have tractors but they're not allowed to have rubber tires they use steel wheels because that's considered excessive comfort they're not allowed to have a cab with heat or AC because that's considered excessive comfort.
What County in Pennsylvania did you get the chopper?
I'm ready let's do it
